TL;DR
- ✅ Our content: Written with AI assistance, then edited, fact-checked, and reviewed by our team
- ✅ Our images: Many are AI-generated for illustration — clearly labeled as such
- ✅ Our interpretation: 100% human. Always.
- ✅ Our team: Real people managing real clients, real calls
- ❌ We never use: AI to replace human interpreters
- ❌ We never use: Machine translation in live calls
- ❌ We never use: Chatbots instead of humans for customer support
AI Policy: Why We Use AI (The Honest Truth)
We’re a lean team running a 24/7 service. We could either:
Option A: Hire a large marketing team, spend months on content, and charge more for interpretation.
Option B: Use AI to draft high-quality blog content, then spend our time editing, fact-checking, and ensuring it’s useful – rather than starting from a blank page. Keep pricing competitive. Spend our real energy on the interpreters and the calls.
We chose Option B.
Why? Because you don’t care how we write the blog. You care that when you call telmyfriends at 2am on a Tuesday with an emergency, there’s a real human interpreter on the line — not a machine, not a script, not a robot that doesn’t understand context.
AI helps us be efficient. It doesn’t replace what we actually do.
How We Actually Use AI
Blog Content & Guides
Our blog articles (the TFG and TFP guides you read) are created with AI assistance. Here’s the honest workflow:
- We identify a topic our clients need help with (e.g., “How to Open a Spanish Bank Account”)
- We use AI to draft the initial content, pulling from our knowledge of what clients actually ask
- We edit, rewrite, and fact-check everything against official Spanish government sources
- Our team reviews it for accuracy, tone, and usefulness
- We add our own experience and real-world examples from actual client situations
- It gets published when it’s genuinely useful
Translation: AI makes the first draft. Our brains make it real.
This is why our guides work. They’re not machine-generated regurgitation — they’re real expertise shaped by a tool that handles the repetitive writing so we can focus on accuracy.
Illustrations & Images
Many of the images on our site are AI-generated for illustration purposes. This includes hero images, blog illustrations, and supporting visuals.
Every AI-generated image is labeled: “AI-generated illustration” or similar text, visible in the image itself.
Why AI images? Because we need illustrations that show people dealing with bureaucracy, language barriers, and phone calls — and hiring photographers for every scenario isn’t feasible. AI gets us professional-looking visuals that illustrate the point without eating our budget.
But we’re transparent about it. You’ll see the label.
Email & Marketing Copy
We use AI to help draft email subject lines, social media posts, and promotional copy. Then we edit it. (A lot.)
Because a subject line written by a machine reads like a subject line written by a machine. We make it human.
AI Policy: What We Absolutely Don’t Do
❌ We Don’t Use AI for Live Interpretation
When you call telmyfriends and get connected to an interpreter, that person is human. Real. Listening. Understanding context, accent, emotion, and what’s left unsaid.
Machine translation does not understand Spanish bureaucracy. It doesn’t know that “Modelo 790” isn’t obvious to someone reading it for the first time. It can’t hear the stress in someone’s voice and adjust the pace of interpretation.
We will never replace human interpreters with AI. Period.
❌ We Don’t Use Chatbots for Customer Support
When you message us on WhatsApp or email support, a real person responds. No bots. No automated trees. A human who understands your situation and gets you the right answer.
❌ We Don’t Use AI for Quality Control
Our interpreter quality, performance, and reliability are managed by humans who care about the outcome. Not algorithms.
Legal Transparency (EU AI Act)
From August 2, 2026: The EU AI Act requires transparency about AI-generated content. We exceed that requirement by telling you proactively.
Our approach:
- Blog articles: Labeled as “written with AI assistance, edited and fact-checked by our team”
- Images: Labeled “AI-generated illustration” directly on the image
- Interpretation services: 100% human — no AI involved
- Editorial responsibility: Our team assumes full editorial responsibility for all published content
We’re not hiding it. We’re leading with it.
The Real Point
You’re hiring telmyfriends for one reason: when you need to speak to someone in a language you don’t speak, and you need them to understand you correctly, and you need it to happen in seconds, we’re there.
That person is human.
Everything else — the website, the blog, the marketing, the illustrations — all of that is infrastructure. If using AI for infrastructure means we spend more energy on the actual service, then we use it.
The trade-off is simple: better content, faster. Real interpreters, always.
And full transparency about how we get there.
